The travel teams require travel to games both in and out of town. Games are played on Saturday and/or Sunday at both home and away fields throughout the area. Practice usually occurs twice a week.
Travel programs necessitate a higher level of commitment. All players are expected to support a team concept and attend all games. Uniforms if required, will be an additional cost.
An original of the player's birth certificate and a copy (the original will be returned) and a current picture will need to be provided to the soccer association. Please have these items ready. Please arrange a time with the registrar to provide these items as soon as you register your child for travel. Birth certificate is only needed the first time a player signs up for travel.
U-9 and U-10 teams will roster 12 players per team. All other age groups will roster a maximum of 16 players per team before tryouts are required. If tryouts are required, the player must attend at least one of the tryouts.
Players not making the travel team (when tryouts are necessary) will have the option to be rostered in the in-town recreational program, provided there is a team at that level. Registration numbers will determine the number and age levels of the travel teams.
Players not rostered on a travel team due to tryouts or lack of numbers will be notified by the Travel Coordinator. If the player decides to play in the rec league, the appropriate coordinator will re-register that player to the rec level. Balance due will be adjusted and a refund will be issued if necessary. No late fees will be charged if original registration was made before late date.
Please Note: If your child is in high school, they cannot play travel in the fall season. They must play for the high school. This does not apply to the spring season.
Somers Soccer Association sponsors teams during fall and spring seasons only. We do not sponsor winter/indoor or summer leagues.
